VALENTINE'S DAY WITH CHANNEL 12

I joined AZ Central News and Emma Jade for a Golden Valentine’s Day Party!

Not only did I take along the party ideas from
my last several posts but, I took Ellen from, Flowers By Ellen! Link to Flowers by Ellen! I was so sad to see how they had edited the segment because the best part of the whole thing was Ellen!  Ellen is a florist (and one of the valley’s most magnificent by the way!)   Her beautiful flowers  were the crowning point of the segment!
Ellen is not only a master florist; she co-owns a company called, Three Leaves Organics They make the most beautiful Lavender Sachets!!  The station edited out not only how beautiful these are but, the wonderful benefits of Lavender!!  Three Leaves Organics make beautiful sachets that can easily be tucked into a dozen roses or as an extra bonus to a vase of flowers.  Long after fresh flowers have faded, the lavender sachet lingers romantically.  A sachet can be put in a drawer or closet to keep clothing and personal items fresh and smelling fabulous.  There are so many beautiful benefits you really should check out their website!
The following posts have the information that we talked about in the segment!

FLOWERS FOR VALENTINE'S DAY

Bringing things back to life is a favorite pastime of mine.  I re-purposed this Vintage lamp in order to hold fresh flowers for Valentine's Day!!! Could these flowers be any more fabulous!?!  NOPE!  I love these.  I have a lovely friend, ELLEN, who is one of the valley’s best florists!  Simply said, her work is excellent!  You really should check out her website.  Flowers by Ellen.  http://flowersbyellen.blogspot.com/

I was talking to Ellen a few weeks ago about a new project I was working on.  She and I work wonderfully together and I have found several of her suggestions not only useful but, genius!
I bought several  glorious old lamps. I figured with a little work they could really rock for Valentine’s Day and beautifully hold fresh flowers!    I took the lamps completely apart, cleaned them, and removed the wiring.
Then, I replaced the light bulb socket with a glass bowl.  The glass bowl I used was actually glass taken from an old lighting fixture.   I was the perfect fit because already had a hole in the very center where it would have been attached into the ceiling. This allowed me to attach it very easily  to the lamp.   Once the bowl was secured, I couldn't wait to get it to Ellen so she could make her magic happen. In all of her glory, Ellen filled my new re-purposed  lamp until it over flowed and fresh flowers dribbled down the sides!  Thank you Ellen!!!

A GILDED VALENTINE'S DAY

A little gilding never hurt anything! However, this gilding was done the ultra cheap way.  Seriously, this year I had exactly NO dollars to put into Valentine decor and yet…every year I seem to want something different!  Why am I this way!?! Truth be told, I spent about 15 dollars recreating my old Valentine decorations into this gilded masterpiece!  It may only be a masterpiece in my eyes but, it is my home, so only my opinion matters!  That is what I love about HOME!
My lovely sister had left over gold spray paint in her garage, she generously donated to the cause.  This spray paint made me happier than it should have!  I have painted nearly everything I could get my hands on! One quick spray and this old jar and I were friends again! I do love it! The cupid arrows are sticks off my orange tree.  They were sprayed gold and then I added a gold heart and glittered frets. Because they were basically "free" I made a ridiculous amount of them.

Tissue paper is so cheap, comes in every color, and is so multifunctional it is not even funny!  I wanted a gold swag and tissue paper was the cheapest option!  Along with three packages of gold tissue paper, I bought a package of red glitter hearts at the dollar store.  That’s all.  I did already have gold ribbon so I guess that is sort of cheating!  You will need ribbon!

I only used one package of tissue paper for the swag.  The other two packages I used to make tails for big balloons.  Talk about big bang for your buck!  Party City will fill these giant balloons up for 4 bucks!  Love them, love their tails! I added about 5 red glittered hearts to the balloon as well...they proved to be too heavy.  I just left the top glittered heart and it worked fantastically!
